CRES participated in the WindEurope Annual Event 2026, held in Madrid from 21 to 23 April, presenting the “Agios Efstratios – Green Island”project and its early operational results through a scientific poster entitled: “Ai Stratis – Green Island: Early operational results from a high RES penetration electrical system”.
The WindEurope Annual Event is the most important European gathering on wind energy and one of the leading global events in the field of renewable energy sources. This year’s edition was a major success, bringing together more than 15,000 participants from 85 countries, 624 exhibitors, 460 speakers, and over 90 thematic sessions, confirming its pivotal role in shaping the future of the European energy transition. In parallel, nearly 400 scientific posters were presented, while numerous side events and networking activities highlighted the latest technological developments and growth prospects of the sector. CRES’s participation in the conference provided a significant opportunity for the international promotion of innovative energy applications implemented in Greece.
The “Agios Efstratios – Green Island” project attracted strong interest from the scientific and professional community, as it represents one of the most representative examples of high RES penetration in an autonomous island power system, contributing valuable expertise to the energy transition of islands and the achievement of European climate and energy autonomy targets.
