Within the framework of the project, energy upgrading interventions were implemented in four (4) municipal buildings, through the implementation of energy saving measures.
The energy upgrading of the buildings is expected to contribute both to the reduction of energy consumption during their operation, and to the improvement of thermal comfort conditions for their users.

The interventions include:

  • ✔ thermal insulation of the shell,
  • ✔ replacement of old frames with new, energy-efficient ones, as well as
  • ✔ upgrading the artificial lighting system.

The municipal buildings in which the energy upgrade interventions were implemented are:
1. The Municipal Store with a total building area of 309 m2. The Municipal Store building is located on the northwest side of the settlement of Agios Efstratios. It is a ground-floor building, which was constructed in the early 1970s, after the 1968 earthquake. The building is divided in terms of its use into two sections: Section 1, which consists of the Hall and its auxiliary areas (boiler room, corridor and WC) and Section 2, with an area of approximately 189 m2, which consists of the space that hosts the Mayor’s office and the administrative employees offices of the municipality, as well as the Citizens Service Center, the post office and the municipal library.
2. The Municipal Cafe. The total area of the building is 149 m2. The Municipal Cafe building is located in the middle of the settlement of Agios Efstratios. It is a ground-floor building, which was constructed in the early 1970s, after the 1968 earthquake.

3. The Municipal Market. The Municipal Market building is located on the south side of the settlement of Agios Efstratios. It is a ground-floor building, which was constructed in the early 1970s, after the 1968 earthquake. The total area of the building is 381.77 m2. Inside the building are located eighteen (18) municipal shops, as well as auxiliary areas (WC).

4. The School Complex. The School Complex consists of two (2) buildings with a total area of 216.0 m2 each.

  • ✔ Building A  (Primary School – Kindergarten) is one of the two buildings of
    the School Complex, located in the center of the settlement of Agios Efstratios. It is a ground-floor building, which was constructed in the early 1970s, after the 1968 earthquake. The building houses the classrooms and auxiliary rooms (WC).
  • ✔ Building B (Middle School – High School) is the second building of the School Complex. It is also a ground-floor building, which was constructed in the early 1970s, after the 1968 earthquake. The building houses the classrooms and auxiliary rooms (WC).
