The promotion of electromobility is implemented through the use of electric vehicles, scooters and bicycles, aiming to cover part of the island’s transportation needs.
A specially designed charging station within the settlement provides both parking and charging spaces.
The open-type metal canopy covering the charging station, includes an autonomous hybrid system for electricity generation and storage, consisting of photovoltaic panels, a small wind turbine, batteries, and the necessary equipment to meet the station’s lighting needs with LED lights.
The charging station is supplied from the island’s electricity grid, whose energy needs, once the project is fully implemented, will be covered to a very large extent (>85%) by Renewable Energy Sources (RES).
As part of this initiative, two (2) commercial electric vehicles have been procured for municipal service use, one of which is suitably adapted for transporting people with disabilities. In addition, two (2) electric scooters and seven (7) electric bicycles have been procured.
