The energy self-sufficiency of the Greek islands is a crucial objective in the context of the green transition and the effort to address the climate crisis.
The aim of the project is to serve as a model for the gradual reduction of autonomous power plants on the Greek islands, which create a major environmental and economic burden, and also to contribute, through the implementation of interventions in the fields of power generation, energy saving in buildings and green transport, to the security of energy supply and sustainable development.
The use of RES, such as wind and solar energy, in combination with modern energy storage and management technologies, paves the way towards energy autonomy and long-term sustainability.

The project aims to cover the island’s electrical load from RES at a rate of 100%, without the participation of conventional power generation units during most of the year.
The goal is for RES to cover more than 85% of the island’s total energy needs on an annual basis.
